BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS

I’m a team player, and I believe one of my best qualities serving as a school board member is the ability to listen and advocate, while creating engagement with parents and employees so we can work better together. If trust has been broken, I will work hard to regain what’s been lost, in a way that fosters transparency. I am available to both parents and employees to better work together. My goal is to be a bridge and to find common ground on controversial issues.

COVID-19 RECOVERY

We are living in an unprecedented time of school closures and distance learning. Despite our responsibilities to 12,000 families and students, and 1,200+ staff members, our district transferred our teaching method from classroom-based to remote learning.

This uncharted course has created challenges and opportunities. Many families have dealt with not having devices or internet access and many are struggling with potential job loss and/or mental health issues. The challenges have made the balance of home school and distance learning a top priority. I am so proud of the work our district has done and the way the teachers and administrators have risen to the challenge.

Students and families should feel the support as we all work through this time.
Our district is working on what the next chapter looks like and getting our students back into the classroom as soon as possible. Our teachers, principals, administrators and instructional aids are working extremely hard to learn and improve as we continue to create clarity on what this next chapter looks like and getting our students back into the classroom as soon as possible.

PLANNING

We are doing our best to anticipate new challenges on our horizon, as there are many possible scenarios for the fall of 2020 school year. I recognize that we may not be able to gather in our traditional way, but we are working to reimagine educating students in the best way possible. I am confident that our goal of keeping our students and staff safe, while providing educational excellence in Rocklin is possible!
